Ohio Certified Forests, Ohio Tree Farm, Certified Tree Farms in Ohio

The Certified Family Forest and the Ohio Certified Tree Farm program is the part of
the American Tree Farm System.

The American Tree Farm System (AFTS) promotes the growing of renewable forest
resources on private land while protecting environmental benefits and increasing
public understanding of all benefits of productive forests.

Management of Ohio woodlands by the ATFS standards leads to a designation of a
'Certified Family Forest' or 'Certified Tree Farm' that indicates the Tree
Farmer's goals to provide a renewable resource in a sustainable manner while
maintaining a healthy forest that protects water, wildlife, and recreational values.

The American Forest Foundation sponsors the American Tree Farm System and
supplies funding that helps support the activities of the Ohio Certified Tree Farm
efforts to carry out programs that attract, encourage and support Tree Farmers.
The ATFS is the oldest private woodland certification system in the USA.

The Ohio Tree Farm Program brings foresters, consultants and government agency
officials together with experienced Tree Farmers to apply the standards of
sustainable forest management in Ohio.
